Orca Shimmer is a highly effective carnauba-based paste wax designed for the fiberglass molder. It is high value mold release yielding a smooth, durable film which is resistant to abrasion.

Needed Supplies (this will vary depending on your project):

Orca Shimmer Mold Release Wax

Foam applicator or Rag to apply

Clean Rag to wipe down at the end

Preparation and Application:

Make sure surface is clean with no dust or other contaminates

Apply to a small section at a time (9 square feet or one square meter) until the entire mold surface is covered.

Apply in a circular motion, overlapping as you go.

Allow the wax to form a haze on the surface. This takes five minutes or so. Just until it is firm and doesn’t feel wet or slick to the touch.

Wipe the surface with a clean cloth to remove excess wax.

Buff to a high luster. You will see a difference between the sections that have mold release and the ones that do not.

Then repeat anywhere from 3-10 times depending on how new the mold is. A new or clean mold needs 7-10 coat.

After this initial application, single coats will continue to give a good release and high surface luster. You can apply in back and forth motions as well as circular motions on subsequent layers.

Important Notes:

Be THOROUGH! Taking the time to apply this mold release to a mold is worth the time. There is nothing worse than a mold getting stuck to the plug.

In high humidity it may be necessary to give the mold a final wiping with a clean dry cloth to remove any haze that develops from unreleased solvents.

In order to avoid contamination a clean cloth should always be used when applying and buffing this product.
