A Slide Past Its Prime

Our featured customer, Jake, came to us with a well-loved but weathered fiberglass slide. He had bought it used but due to years of use (and exposure to the elements), the slide had seen better days. It was in need of a new surface.

The question? “Is it possible to restore a slide like this?”

The answer? Absolutely! Restoring fiberglass slides is not only possible but can often be a more cost-effective and eco-friendly alternative to replacing them entirely.

Before Restoration

The slide clearly showed years of use and exposure. Notice the discoloration and dull appearance? These are signs that your slide is due for some TLC.

During Restoration

Here’s a glimpse into the magic! Repairs are underway, and the surface is prepped for recoating, ensuring the foundation is strong and smooth before the final steps. Vinyl ester resin was used with chopped strand mat to reinforce areas before applying new gel coat.

Jake chose three different Sherwin Williams colors that Fiberglass Warehouse color matched. He used these three ISO NPG superior grade polyester gelcoats to make his slide look brand new! He mixed it with some Orca Air Dry Super Clear additive for the ultimate smooth finish.

After Restoration

The results speak for themselves! The slide is now gleaming, vibrant, and smooth as new. It’s ready to provide endless fun, safe usage, and a touch of nostalgia for anyone that uses it.
