VINYLESTER RESIN

Vinyl ester resin is a superior resin to polyester.  It has a longer molecular chain which allows it to absorb impact better and shrink less. It is typically used on applications that will be exposed to chemicals or water for extended periods of time. It is durable and has good corrosion resistance.

Vinyl ester can be used as the only resin or as a final coat after polyester resin to create a good water barrier. It is resistant to solvents and water degradation.  It also has good resistance to heat.

Vinyl ester resin cures with a tack. For the final layer, you will want to add wax such as surface agent to create a hard finished surface.

Regarding costs, vinyl ester resin is more expensive than polyester resin, but cheaper than epoxy resin.
