Chopped strand mat is made up of short randomly oriented strands of fiber that are held together with a styrene binder.  When polyester or vinyl ester resin is added, the binder dissolves and the fibers can be moved around. Mat is great for molds or parts where thickness is needed. If strength is needed, layer the mat between woven fiberglass cloth.

Chopped strand mat is NOT compatible with epoxy resin.

Approximately 95 lbs.or 83 yards per roll. Sold by the linear yard or roll.

Mystical Reality Is
Good Quality

I have no complaints. The glass came neatly rolled and packaged. Works great. Fiberglassing the whole side of a catamaran hull. It was wide enough to do the side and then still do the deck area with what was left over from the first job. Still have a lot left. Thanks.

Very good fiberglass in every way.

This fiberglass is great. It's a very nice weight that's pliable but still easy enough to shape when wet with resin. between the resin and the fiberglass, I was able to make this custom enclosure for my car's subwoofer.

Question: Is chopped strand mat compatible with epoxy resin?

Answer: No, it is not compatible with epoxy resin. Chopped strand mat is made up of short strands of fiberglass that are held together by a styrene binder. The styrene from polyester and vinyl ester resin is needed to dissolve the binder in the mat.
